The crowning achievement which may have a climber is to reach the summit of Mount Everest , which is the highest mountain on Earth , at 8,848 m altitude . Climbing Routes

Mount Everest has two main routes of ascent, the southeast by northeast by Nepal and Tibet , plus 13 other lesser-used routes . Of the two, the southeast is technically easier and more used . It was used by Hillary and Norgay in 1953.
